Leafing through Canada

About Leafing through Canada

Status: Unpublished—Style and content editorial work

At the beginning of August, we pointed our 2017 Nissan Leaf towards Ottawa, leaving Victoria, British Columbia behind in a cloud of discarded electrons. This was the beginning of a journey to drive an electric vehicle to Ottawa and back, a total of 10,000 kilometres. Although driving an all electric vehicle across Canada in the summer of 2018 has its challenges, rapid changes in infrastructure are occurring.

We learned a lot. We learned about the Leaf, about managing the long distances between charging stations, and about the infrastructure, which is rapidly expanding. We have reached the threshold where the charging infrastructure is growing by itself.
