“Hidden Message” (2,917 words) was selected by the editing team for The Fieldstone Review, the University of Saskatchewan’s literary magazine. The award is a cash prize for one of the accepted submissions per annual issue. It will be published in their magazine this Friday, September 13, 2019.
I just logged on to my website for the first time in ages. I have been remiss in maintaining this site. I now hope to ensure that my calendar contains at least a monthly entry to update the site. So much has happened!
My neighbour, Phil, told me about this documentary showing at our local theatre, The Fritz. It was about an amazing rock climber and mountaineer who made an incredible number of first ascents of mountains in North America. I was struck by the difference, or graduation, between “focus” and “obsession”. I’m very excited about the launch of my new book, Cape Horn Birthday. It will first appear as an eBook and soon after as a paperback, followed by a hard cover. It has been a longer journey creating Cape Horn Birthday than the voyage around the world that the book documents.
